A Kiss

Just one more
is all I ask of you,
but I know that one is
never enough.
I can't stop myself
from wanting you-
I don't want to.
for now, I'm alone
(although never without
thoughts of you)
and I can't help but wish
for one more kiss
just one more before
I close my eyes
and dream
of many more
to come.

I read this twice. This first time it was so melancholy... like the one you are kissing is gone. And I was sad and lonely.

Then I read it again and I found that place inside me that has felt this desire not to fall asleep until I've given one more kiss, and then another, and another. That is a full feeling.

I love it when a piece can read both ways.

You say it all very simplistically which lets the emotions shine through. Beautifully written, beautifully put.

Lovely. Very provoking.

So deceptively simple. And complex at the same time.

I can't fall asleep until i have that last kiss. I know what you feel. One more, it has to feel just right.

Love this.

What a beautiful piece. I've been so struck by the amount of touching poetry that has come out of five for ten....It's a skill I admire so much (and certainly don't share). This poem was just lovely

This is lovely! I love that while you are a little sad, and yearning for the person who isn't there, you recognize the value in not wanting it any other way.

A kiss....beautiful.

Kissing is so under rated. I remember an episode of Oprah once where whoever the guest was suggested the best way to get passion back into a marriage was to kiss your spouse for 10 seconds.

10 seconds....it's amazing what can come with stopping for 10 seconds to kiss....not a peck on the way out the door....but a real kiss...
